THE POSITION:

The role of Survey and Spatial Data Coordinator, a permanent full-time position, is available within the Design Services Division at Fairfield City Council.

The Survey and Spatial Data Coordinator is a key position in Fairfield City Council and reports directly to the Manager Design Services and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders.

The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Survey and Spatial Data branch and the preparation of plans requiring the signature of a Registered Surveyor including plans to be lodged at NSW Land Registry Services for all property surveys and other surveys related to Council's property transactions.

Survey & Spatial Data Coordinator also provides professional advice to various stakeholders and areas in Council in relation to statutory survey requirements, land registry procedures, property description and status of roads, reserves etc.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to demonstrate their commitment to teamwork and the provision of quality customer service.

ESSENTIAL:
  • Degree in Surveying and Registration with the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information of NSW or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of surveying equipment, techniques and an advanced knowledge of computer facilities and their application to the activities of the Survey & Spatial Data branch
  • Proved experience in protecting, maintenance and repair of permanent survey marks
  • Experience in engaging and supervising consultants performing survey, engineering, and photogrammetric functions
  • Demonstrated experience in Local Government
  • Well-developed written, communication and research skills to prepare concise and accurate reports
  • Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels and to represent Council capably to consultants, other government agencies and the public
  • Experience in managing and developing a small team
  • Experience in providing advice and input into property development including estate planning/layout, development costing, preparation of Development Applications and Statements of Environmental Effects, project management, preparation of linen plans and Draft Section 88B Instruments
  • New South Wales Drivers Licence Class C (Car)
DESIRABLE:
  • Experience in
    • Private practice surveying
    • Preparation of draft instruments for the creation of rights and restrictions pursuant to Section 88B of the Conveyancing Act
    • Preparation of Statements of Environmental Effects
    • Preparation of Development Applications

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 8, with a commencing salary range of $107,405 p.a. with progression to $115,665 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $125,812 p.a.
