Find purpose and impact

As an Assistant Arborist, you will make an impact by in maintaining and enhancing the region's green spaces. Working closely with the Arborist team, you'll assist in arboricultural and horticultural tasks, operate various plant and equipment, and contribute to the upkeep of public assets. This hands-on role involves working at heights, using tools like chainsaws and elevated work platforms, and supporting community initiatives related to open space management.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Operating and maintaining equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, and elevated work platforms safely and effectively.
  • Assisting Arborists in tree maintenance, pruning, and removal tasks across Council-managed areas.
  • Supporting the coordination of worksite activities and provide plant operation support.
  • Carrying out general horticultural and arboricultural maintenance and construction duties.
  • Engaging with community groups and other Council branches to support open space activities when required.

 

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in operating plant and equipment such as skid steer, loader, tractor, backhoe, stump grinder and elevated work platform.
  • Demonstrated experience and qualification in the safe use and maintenance of chainsaws.
  • Experience in undertaking arboriculturally related tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience of working as a part of a team to achieve stated objectives.
  • MR Drivers Licence.

We would also love you to have:

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $59,561 to $69,219.
